Lyrics for our songs

Thank You, Lord

1. Lord, I thank You for the trees that are growing,
Lord, I thank You for the birds that sing.
Yes I thank You Lord, thank You Lord,
Naturally!
So it's thank You, thank You,
Thank You from me!

2. Lord, I thank you for the love you are showing,
Lord, I thank You for ev'rything.
Yes I thank You Lord, thank You Lord,
Joyfully!
So it's thank You, thank You,
Thank You from me!

3. Lord, I thank you for the words I am singing,
Lord, I thank You for the tunes I hear.
Yes I thank You Lord, thank You Lord,
Musically!
So it's thank You, thank You,
Thank You from me!

4. Lord, I thank you for the warmth You are bringing,
Lord, I thank You since You're near.
Yes I Thank You Lord, Thank You Lord,
Spiritedly!
So it's thank You, thank You,
Thank You from me!

5. Lord, I thank you for the moon and the sun,
Lord, I thank You for each shi-ning star.
Yes I thank You Lord, thank You Lord,
Universally!
So it's thank You, thank You,
Thank You from me!

6. Lord, I thank you for the joy of creation,
Lord, I thank You for the way we are.
Yes I thank You Lord, thank You Lord,
Bounteously!
So it's thank You, thank You,
Thank You from me!

Come Turn to Me

1. I thought I knew my way,
But Jesus came to say:
"Come turn to me and you will see
Come turn to me and you will see".

2. I saw I had been wrong,
And sang a different song:
And I did find I had been blind
And I did find I had been blind.

3. I turned to Jesus Christ
That had been sacrificed,
And joyful then was born again
And joyful then was born again.

4. So come now join with me
And all the world can see
That God saves all who hear His call
That God saves all who hear His call.

Jesus, Jesus, What's Your Middle Name?

1. Jesus, Jesus, what's your middle name?
Humphrey, Humphrey, that's your middle name.
Yours alone the living waters:
The spring of life where all may come free;
We come with our sons and daughters
To your fountain, Jesus Humphrey.

Chorus:

For my sake you were sacrificed:
Thank you, Jesus Humphrey (etc.) Christ.

2. Jesus, Jesus, what's your middle name?
Hector, Hector, that's your middle name.
Three in one and one in three,
Father, Son and Holy Spectre;
My faith is in the Trinity,
Have faith in me, O Jesus Hector.

3. Jesus, Jesus, what's your middle name?
Herman, Herman, that's your middle name
In Heaven I shall speak all tongues,
Swahili, Hebrew, Greek and German,
I shall sing with joyful lungs
Your praises in them, Jesus Herman.

4. Jesus, Jesus, what's your middle name?
Hubert, Hubert, that's your middle name.
The gates of Heav'n admit no sin;
They open at a word from you, but
Some will never enter in -
O let me enter, Jesus Hubert.

5. Jesus, Jesus, what's your middle name?
Harold, Harold, that's your middle name.
You will stand at Judgment Day
In a blaze of light apparelled
Grant eternal life, I pray,
To me then, O Jesus Harold.

Where Were You at Our Barbecue?

1. We looked at the sky on the first of July:
A day clear and blue for our barbecue.
We sent out a card on which `come to our garden':
Where were You at our barbecue?

2. We felt quite a thrill when we dusted the grill,
We cleaned it like new for our barbecue.
But nothing! nix! nada! when we checked out the larder:
Where were You at our barbecue?

3. The guest list was long: some five thousand strong,
Rather a few for a barbecue.
The crowd looked just rav'nous; the larder seemed cav'nous:
Where were You at our barbecue?

4. With only two fishes to put on the dishes,
What a to-do at our barbecue!
One piscine kebab'll not silence the rabble:
Where were You at our barbecue?

5. We knew not what might ease our roisty invitees,
A mutinous crew at our barbecue.
They wanted their chow and they wanted it `Now!':
Where were You at our barbecue?

6. A bloke in a dress said `No need for stress:
Let's have no set-to at this barbecue.
Providing nutrition is part of my mission':
Thanks to You for our barbecue!

7. `Just get on with lighting the grill and stop fighting
A battle in lieu of a barbecue.
Let's have no resistance I'll sort the subsistence':
Thanks to You for our barbecue!

8. `Though lots of us clergy study fish thaumaturgy,
I don't often do a barbecue'.
He worked like a Trojan, this ictheologian:
Thanks to You for our barbecue!

9. The crowd grew less livid as the portions were divvied:
Plenty to chew at our barbecue.
With ev'ryone sated this Messiah was feted:
Thanks to You for our barbecue!
